I really dig the CT6 and can see getting into one in a year or two when I get my next car. Thing is, I'm still under 50 and not in the target demographic. It seems like a good alternative to perceived BMW/Audi snootiness and should have comparable performance. By then the TT V8 should be out. Thoughts?

Why do you think Cadillac’s target demo in 50+?

Oh God no, somebody might see a 40-something man in a a $50k+ Cadillac! What will the neighbors think? Please, think of the children. Buy and regret a 5 series like everyone else.

Haven’t Buick and Caddy gone consistent lower on their median buying age the last few years?
Also check out the Lincolns man! The new MKZ is available in AWD with 400 hp!

Clearly 640 hp supercharged supersedans are only meant to get old people’s hearts beating again. They aren’t trying to get the attention of younger people at all. Just ignore the fact that the average Mercedes buyer is 52....

I think Cadillac has been actively revamping their image and trying to appeal to a younger demog. as their classic base is expiring. Funny though, I like the Charger Scat Pack a lot also, just for different reasons. Apples and watermelons. I have seen the MKZ and was impressed by the 2.7 Ecoboost; I think that's essentially the motor in the F150?

I never understood why people hated Cadillac because older generations adored them.
My grandfather drove a Cadillac until the day he died. He also fought in World War 2, stuck around to aid with the administration of the Marshall Plan, came home to design aircraft, and ultimately worked for NASA during the Gemini and Apollo programs.
I’d say that’s a pretty good demographic to aspire to.

The new MKZ has the new 3.0 Twin Turbo (that they don’t seem to be calling EcoBoost). It has 400 hp and 400 torque if you get the AWD model. The Fusion Sport is rocking the 2.7 - I’m not sure how directly shared it is from the F-150 but it’s used in a few applications including the Edge. 3.0 Twin Turbo is also used in the new Continental, but I imagine it’ll be more fun in the smaller MKZ.
I imagine it’s going to be a rocket in that size car.
The Scat Pack’s are badass. I think you’re discussing a bunch of different SIZE vehicles though. full size 4 doors, mid-size, and even a 2 door. I’m guessing that you need to start putting your ass in some seats to see what feels best.

Key demographics be damned. I wanted one of those Final 500 Oldsmobiles and I was just starting university.

If it were me the Caddy would win over the Audi every damn time. Except for those 1980 Cadillacs. Those are bad news.
You'll know what you want when you buy your next car. Don't worry about what the target deographic is. Oppo & Jalopnik love the Miata even though very few (presumably) are hairdressers or secretaries.

LoL. I loved the 1st gen Seville (75-79) even though it was a total brick. But when it went FWD in 1980 it became a turd. Growing up, our neighbor bought a new Seville diesel in 1980. OMFG what a piece that thing was. Clattered like a dump truck and spewed soot like a steam loco.

If you like it, get one. Whoever makes fun of anyone in a large V8 luxury car is jealous.
